2001
- Vanilla Sky is a Sci-fi psychological thriller.
- This movie is directed by Cameron Crowe.
- His direction is uneven throughout the film, sometimes its good, sometimes its bad.
- Control over film making is very poor.
- Story of the film is very strong.
- It is well written but proper presentation is not there.
- Story is about a very handsome man who finds his love of life, but he suffers an accident and needs to have his face rebuilt by surgery after it is severely disfigured.
- Story telling is really confusing and not in proper manner (credit goes to director).
- Story had a big potential, but poor direction ruined it.
- Film makes you very excited in last 15 minutes, but then ending is very weird. You'll not understand what's happening. Ending could have been great, a really memorable one, but...
- Camera angles were good, especially in that car accident scene. That was shot so perfectly that it actually scares you.
- Film has loose direction, but twists keeps you excited.
- Strating was little boring but second half boosts up.
- Leads of the film are Tom Cruise, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz.
- Tom delivered a great performance. He was really impressive.
- Penelope's work was preferably good than Cameron's.
- Supporting actors were great.
- Background score is good and correctly used.
- Prosthetics used were great. (appreaction to make up artists)
- Crew did a great work.
- CGI is okay!!
- Vanilla Sky could've been a very great film like Shutter Island but poor film making and story telling sinks it.
- Still, the film is not that bad and definitely worth a watch or if possible watch the original film. (vanilla sky is adaptation of Spanish film 'open your eyes')
Best Thing - Story and Tom
IMDb 6.9
